A Spirit of Yorkshire 2017 6-year-old English single malt whisky bottled from a single cask without colouring or chill filtration by our friends at Berry Bros & Rudd.

This 2017 Spirit of Yorkshire 6-year-old started life in a first fill ex-bourbon hogshead before being reracked for a two and a half year finishing period in a Pedro Ximenez sherry butt that still had plenty to give, judging by the colour. This is the first English malt whisky bottled by BBR - a smart collaboration between England's oldest wine & spirit merchants and one of her most promising new distilleries, who officially bottle their own English malt whisky as Filey Bay.

Nose: A dolly mixture nose provides confected fruit with dustings of coconut. The fruit becomes more concentrated giving some cranberry and blackcurrant. All is bright as the wood has not dominated and tannins are controlled.

Palate: The palate is thick and rich with jammy red fruits that keep giving. All holds together well as the lingering finish plays out.
