Whyte & Mackay 50 Year Old 175th Anniversary 1844-2019
Blended Scotch Whisky 50cl / 44.5%
A very special Whyte & MacKay 50-year-old blended scotch whisky, bottled in 2019 for Whyte & Mackay's 175th Anniversary. Just 1750 half litre bottles of this special blend were made, of which 1500 were given away to competition winners at the time.
Bottled at an excellent drinking strength of 44.5%, the whiskies for this Whyte & Mackay 50-year-old blend were assembled by legendary blender Richard Paterson after maturing in a combination of bourbon barrels, a tawny port pipe and first and second fill sherry butts that previously contained Matusalem Oloroso or Apostoles Palo Cortado sherry from the famed Gonzalez Byass producer.
Matusalem and Apostoles are VORS sherries, meaning that they are aged around 30 years minimum on average, and add profoundly rich, deep flavours to the mix - this 50-year-old Whyte & Mackay will be an absolute stunner.
