The Cargill 5 Year Old Adelphi Ardnamurchan & Cardrona
Blended Malt Whisky
Bottled by: Adelphi 70cl / 57.4%
A small batch Cargill 5-year-old blended malt whisky bottled in 2025 by Adelphi Distillers for their Fusion series. Cargill is a fusion whisky, a mix of single malt whiskies from Adelphi’s Ardnamurchan distillery in the Highlands and New Zealand’s Cardrona distillery and was bottled at cask strength without colouring or chill filtration.
Adelphi is one of Scotland’s most innovative indie bottlers and are never afraid to take risks or bottle young whiskies as long as they taste great. This 5-year-old Cargill blended malt whisky came from a micro batch of two casks from Ardnamurchan and Cardrona and was an edition of just 1200 bottles at a very hefty 57.4%. The Cardona distillery was founded on New Zealand’s South Island in 2015 and was acquired by Inver House in 2023.
Like The Glover, Adelphi’s other fusion whisky which mixed Ardnamurchan with young whisky from Japan’s Chichibu distillery, The Cargill is named after a prominent 19th century Scottish businessman: William Cargill, a retired army officer and father of 17 children who somehow found time to emigrate to New Zealand in 1847, where he led the European settlement of the Otago region and founded the state capital Dunedin (named after his home city of Edinburgh).
