These whiskies were notoriously massive, full on, punchy drams often at super high cask strengths. This Springbank is very much in that vein but beautifully so. Big, coastal, peaty and full-on, with bags of fruit, wax and sandalwood notes. You could be forgiven for thinking it had been distilled 10 years earlier. Wonderful, challenging and engaging whisky that reeks of its origins.
