Sailor's Home Caravelle 10-year-old Batch 1 is the second bottling in the Sailor's Home brand's Island Series of special editions, and is a 10-year-old blended Irish whiskey finished in casks that were previously home to Martiniquaise rhum agricole, a type of rum distilled from pure sugar cane juice rather than molasses or sugar syrup.
The Caravelle name comes from a type of sailing ship used for trade in the Caribbean in the 15th-17th centuries, and is also a reference to the Presqu’ile de la Caravelle nature reserve on Martinique. Rum cask finishes work well with Irish whiskey, and with Sailor's Home Caravelle 10-year-old, the rhum agricole casks have added an extra layer of sweet pineapple and banana exotic fruit flavours that complement the whiskey beautifully.
