Part of Nikka's Discovery Series, which made its first appearance in 2021, the Miyagikyo (formerly Sendai) distillery's Miyagikyo Peated is a small batch limited edition bottled at a palate-friendly 48%.

As Japanese distillers do not swap stock for blending, each distillery is required to produce several different spirit styles, but Miyagikyo's peated whisky has rarely been bottled before now. Stylistically, this Miyagikyo has a drier, smoky phenolicity rather than an earthy or medicinal character, adding complexity and depth to the distillery's trademark exotic fruitiness.
