The remarkable Billy Walker is a man of many talents. With the MacNair's Exploration series of rums, Glenallachie's head honcho reveals yet another string to his bow - master rum blender!

This MacNair's Exploration Panama 7-year-old rum was initially tropically aged in Panama before making the trip to Speyside, where Mr Walker blended it and reracked it back into a mix of red wine barriques, ex-bourbon casks and virgin oak. After this finishing period, the rum was re-blended and bottled at an alluring 46% without colouring or chill-filtration.

This is one of a pair of MacNair's Exploration 7-year-old Panamanian rums - the other one is part-finished in peaty whisky casks, so if you can get hold of both it would seem rather foolish not to try them together for contrast.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Burnished Bronze.

Nose: Mango, peaches, and plantains, fused with ginger.

Palate: Waves of bananas, papaya, and mango, with coconut, toffee, orange zest, and a hint of pineapple.
