An old bottle of the magnificent Macallan 1986 18-year-old Speyside single malt whisky. Released in 2004, this 1986 vintage Macallan was the last of the iconic ‘blue ribbon’ official bottlings of Macallan 18-year-old before the packaging was switched to the new bottle shape.
The early-to-mid 1980s vintages of Macallan 18-year-old tend to show a much gamier, meatier profile than fans of modern-day Macllan might recognise, with notes of nuts, chocolate, occasional hints of gunpowder and flints, plus stewed and dried fruits and lots of classic sherry intensity. Super soft and typically luxurious in style, this is a rich, dense, robust, leathery, fruity after-dinner Macallan from the tail end of the distillery's imperial era.
