Lagavulin 1979-2019 | 40 Year Old The Syndicate's Single Cask 112

Lagavulin 1979-2019 | 40 Year Old The Syndicate's Single Cask 112

Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: The Syndicate 70cl / 49.1%

Bottled in 2019 from a single cask, this 1979 Lagavulin was only the second 40-year-old ever bottled from this iconic Islay distillery (the first was a 5-bottle vanity Rare Malts edition by Diageo for Asian clients in 2016).

The Syndicate are a mystery group of cask investors with strong ties to Islay and the whisky industry, and have bottled some outstanding Islay single malts sporadically since the late 1980s. The Syndicate's Lagavulins, however, are in a class of their own, with a string of aged vintage casks from 1979, 1984 and 1990 fast assuming legendary status with collectors and drinkers alike.

This 1979 Lagavulin 40-year-old remains the oldest Syndicate bottling to date and as you'd expect it's absolutely incredible stuff. Bottled on Islay at its natural cask strength of 49.1%, Cask 112 yielded just 188 bottles, all bursting with complex tobacco, leather, rancio and smoky, earthy peat aromas and flavours. A remarkable, unmissable dram for true Islay and Lagavulin connoisseurs.

Please note, bottle numbers may vary.
