Highland Park 1994-2009 | 15 Year Old Earl Magnus 1st Edition

Highland Park 1994-2009 | 15 Year Old Earl Magnus 1st Edition

Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Bottling 70cl / 52.6%

A bottle of the limited edition Highland Park 15-year-old Earl Magnus Island single malt whisky. This whisky was released in 2009 as the first edition of the distillery's Inga Saga Trilogy inspired by the life of Orkney's St. Magnus, who ruled the archipelago in the early 12th century before being betrayed and martyred by his cousin Earl Haakon. The cathedral built in his honour in 1137 still stands in Kirkwall, less than a mile from the Highland Park distillery.

This Highland Park Earl Magnus 15-year-old was a limited edition of 5976 bottles released at its natural strength of 52.6%, with the majority of the assemblage a batch of American oak sherry casks filled in 1994, though some earlier vintages matured in Spanish sherry oak were also included. The label features an image of Magnus based on a label from a very old bottle of Highland Park from the distillery's own collection, which itself was based upon a stained glass portrait of the saint.
