This iconic 24-year-old Clynelish is one of the most famous of them all, being the last Rare Malts Clynelish distilled in the legendary 1972 vintage and bottled from refill wood in 1997 at its jaw-droppingly massive cask strength of 61.3%. As you would expect from this distillery, vintage and series, this 1972 Clynelish is a beast of a dram, typically full of wax, petroleum, honey and fruit but with more of a gutsy, coastal and slightly peaty edge than the majority of other 1972 Clynelishes that were bottled later, due to its younger bottling age.
