A Cardhu 15-year-old Speyside single malt whisky bottled at full cask strength in 1989 for what was then Scottish Malt Distillers' Managers' Dram series. 1989 was only the second year of the Manager's Dram series, and this was one of two bottlings that year.
This Cardhu 1989 15-year-old would have been distilled in either 1973 or 1974 and was a refill cask whisky released at its whopping cask strength of 63%. There are many great whiskies in the Manager's Drams series but this early Cardhu is up there with the best of them. An oily, fat, richly malty, biscuity whisky heavily accented by green and citrus fruits with background peat. A wonderful and often overlooked bottling.
