A bottle of the Committee Release of Ardbeg Ardcore Islay single malt whisky, which was released in 2022. Ardbeg Ardcore was made using 'black' malt barley, a heavily roasted style which is more commonly used for stout and porter beers and is a slightly darker version of the chocolate malt used for Ardbeg's stablemate Glenmorangie Signet.

Black malt adds strong coffee and bitter dark chocolate flavours to any beverage it's involved with, and for Ardbeg Ardcore these flavours dovetail nicely with the distillery's strong charcoal and sooty roast citrus flavours. Ardbeg Ardcore Committee Release was bottled at the stronger strength of 50.1%, a small but significant jump from the standard bottling's 46%.
